Questions

Audio fade in and fade out FAQ

What is an audio fade-in or fade-out?

A fade-in gradually raises the volume from silence at the start of audio. A fade-out gradually lowers it to silence at the end. Both make transitions feel smoother and prevent abrupt cuts.

Is this audio fade tool free?

Yes. You can upload, preview and export faded audio without an account, subscription or watermark.

Is my music uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding, playback, fade processing and WAV encoding all happen locally in your browser, so the audio file stays on your device.

Which audio formats can I use?

The tool accepts formats your browser can decode, including MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and WebM in most modern browsers. Finished audio is exported as a high-quality 16-bit WAV.

Will adding a fade reduce audio quality?

The fade is calculated directly from the decoded audio and exported as an uncompressed WAV. There is no extra lossy compression during export.

When should I use AceStep Studio instead?

Use Studio when you need fades on several tracks, clip trimming, timeline arrangement, stem separation, mixing controls or a complete multitrack export.
